So… this is what happens when your knitting seasons don’t line up with real seasons 😅 The Lilac Top is finally here, just as summer is wrapping up (ok, so that’s an understatement. Autumn just decided not to show up and it feels like winter already). But maybe that’s not such a bad thing—because this design is a little more versatile than your average summer top.
The Lilac Top is worked top-down with graceful lace panels along the shoulders and hem, finished with neat i-cord edges for a clean look. It was originally designed in a silk-linen blend (Hør Silke from Gepard Garn), which gives it an airy drape and that subtle sheen that feels so good in warmer weather. If you opt for this particular yarn, make sure to follow Sus Gepards tips for the best results : soak it for 24 hours in cold water, then lay flat to dry as usual. This will make it much softer!

But here’s the fun part:
Since I’m a bit late with the launch, I’ve been playing around with yarn ideas for a cozier, winter-ready version. Imagine this lace-yoked beauty layered under a cardigan, or worked up in warmer yarn blends for a whole new vibe. I’ll be sharing progress pictures and yarn combos soon—so stay tuned!
In the meantime, you can:
- Cast on a Lilac Top now and tuck it away for next summer ☀️
- Layer it with your favorite cardigan or blazer for autumn 🍂
- Or… experiment with longer sleeves and a longer body. It’s top-down, so you’re in charge here. Add length, add sleeves—you’re the boss.
Where to find the pattern:
Why you’ll love knitting it:
- Top-down seamless construction (easy to customize as you go)
- Delicate lace details that frame the design beautifully (but still easy and totally doable for beginners)
- Works in summer yarns and winter blends
- Flexible: make a crop top or a tunic, or even a long-sleeved sweater
I’m so excited to finally share this one with you—even if I’m fashionably late 😉 Can’t wait to see your versions of the Lilac Top. If you share on Instagram, tag me @lillelarsenlux and use the hashtag #LilacTop so I can follow along.
Happy knitting! 🌿
