Scraps, Stripes & Cashmere Dreams: Knit Your Own Version

One of the things I love most about this super simple Cashmere skinny scarf pattern is its versatility. It’s one of those projects that really lets you play with whatever design you like or what you have at hand : whether that’s using up scraps, experimenting with textures, or diving into a full-on colour story. It’s a pattern that simply works with everything.

Today, I’m sharing a gorgeous version from Woolinspires. It’s not one of mine, but it’s such a fun take that I had to bring it here on the blog for you. This variation shows beautifully how a simple base can be transformed with just a touch of colour and texture play. And my friend Laure always has an incredible sense for colour combinations, it’s a true talent!

The Woolinspires Twist

This scarf uses two skeins of Cardiff Cashmere (as soft and luxurious as it gets), paired with a playful pink mohair block made by holding four strands together. That tiny “dollop of colour” really changes the mood of the whole piece — a joyful accent against the elegant cashmere base.

The Colour Story

For this version, Laure swapped in the following shades:

  • Blue (666 ZAR)
  • Green (543 Jungle)
  • Pink (4 strands of mohair held together)

The Stripe Sequence

Here’s how the stripes are worked (each stripe = 16 rows) :

  • Start with pink
  • Then blue, green, repeat 5 more times (6 in total)
  • Follow with pink
  • Then blue, green, repeat 3 more times (4 in total)
  • Finish with one last blue

You’re more the neutral type?

Then check out this blog post for the original version of the Cashmere Skinny scarf, and get inspired for a more simple, neutral scarf for everyday wear.

Time to Cast On

Now it’s your turn. Grab the Cashmere Skinny Scarf pattern, dig through your scraps, mix in a favourite yarn or two, and cast on a Skinny Cashmere Scarf of your very own. Whether you go bold with colour or subtle with texture, this is a pattern that will happily adapt to whatever story you want it to tell. So grab those needles — your version is waiting to be knit.

And definitely share your progress! #cashmereskinnyscarf @lillelarsenlux
