Test knit call: Múli Cardigan

The Múli Cardigan is ready for test knitting!

This is a top-down colourwork cardigan worked in Ístex Léttlopi. It begins at the neckline with a folded ribbed binding, then continues into a raglan-shaped yoke worked in the round. A centre front steek is included from the beginning, allowing the cardigan to be knitted continuously in the round before the front opening is reinforced and cut.

The body and sleeves are worked in an all-over Faroese colourwork motif. After the upper body is complete, the sleeve stitches are placed on hold while the lower body is worked in the round to the hem. The sleeves are then worked separately in the round from the underarm to the cuffs.

Once the knitting is complete, the centre front steek is reinforced with crochet chains and carefully cut open. The neckline is folded to the inside and sewn down for a clean finish, and the front edges are completed with double-knit button bands. Buttonholes are worked directly into the right front band, and the steek edges are enclosed inside the bands.

Who this test knit is for

This test is best suited for knitters who are comfortable with stranded colourwork in the round and who are ready to work a steeked cardigan.

Previous steeking experience is helpful, but not required if you feel comfortable following written instructions and working carefully and are happy about learning new techniques. The pattern includes instructions for the crochet-reinforced steek, folded neckline, and double-knit button bands.

You do not need to be an expert knitter, but you should be comfortable giving clear feedback if something feels confusing, uneven, or unclear in the pattern.

What I will ask from test knitters

Test knitters will be asked to:

  • knit the defined size by the deadline
  • follow the pattern as written as much as possible, without altering design elements
  • note any unclear instructions, errors, or places where more explanation would be useful
  • share finished garment measurements
  • send clear photos of the finished cardigan

How to apply

Applications are open until June 24.

You can apply through the form here:

Selected test knitters will be contacted by email after applications close.

Thank you so much for your interest in helping test the Múli Cardigan. A good test knit makes such a difference before a pattern is released, and it wouldn’t be possible without you all!
