The Everyday Cardigan is a versatile top-down cardigan knitting pattern designed for year-round layering. It is worked in one strand of DK yarn held together with one strand of mohair, creating a soft fabric that can be worn as an extra layer indoors or as a light jacket in warmer seasons.
The cardigan is worked from the top down, beginning with the upper back. The front pieces are then picked up separately at the shoulders, shaped, and joined with the back to work the lower body in one piece. The back of the lower body is shaped with short rows, creating a gentle curve and a slightly longer back hem.
The sleeves are picked up around the armholes and worked in the round. The buttonband is added at the end using a double-knit technique, with the buttonholes worked directly into the band. The pattern is designed as a no-sew construction, with only ends to weave in after knitting.
The pattern includes written instructions for 10 sizes, yarn quantities, needle information, gauge, abbreviations, technique notes, and a schematic with finished measurements.
